About Us

In addition to seven-plus years of real estate and senior care experience, Karen Hunter, the founder of Senior Home Transformations, is a licensed real estate agent in Illinois, and has more than 25 years of family care giving experience, first for her grandmother, then her great-aunt, and then her mother.

"When I first began caring for my grandmother in 1981 (she was diagnosed with dementia) , there were zero resources or support for caregivers. I didn't even have peer support because I was only 24 and my friends were not having the same experience. It was emotionally challenging, and it was like navigating my way through dense fog most days.

When my grandmother and then her sister, my great-aunt, had to move to senior facilities and eventually passed away, I was so grateful for their church. The minister and church members helped me prepare for the moves and dispose of their possessions.

But not everyone has that type of help available, and often, family members live in other parts of the country and/or are unable to take time from work or other life events to help their senior family member move.

That's where I come in. I am a compassionate, committed, experienced professional. In addition to being a Licensed Realtor in Illinois, I am Certified Home Stager

I am originally from Tennessee and now live in the Fox Valley area with my husband, Steve. They have two daughters, two granddaughters, and several "grandpets"! I enjoys cats, nature walks, yoga, antiquing, cooking, gardening, quilting, reading, and volunteering. She and Steve attend Unity of Fox Valley Church in Batavia.
